Welcome to the Loveless Lab

We are the Loveless Lab, based in the Department of BioSciences at Rice University and part of the Rice Synthetic Biology Institute. We build DNA-based tools for recording and storing information inside living cells, giving developmental biologists and cell engineers a way to write and preserve molecular and cellular information directly in the genome. Drawing on synthetic biology, molecular engineering, and quantitative analysis, we work to expand what biological systems can measure and remember to open new possibilities in development, tissue engineering, and biomedical research.
